Orocobre Limited and Galaxy Resources plan to merge in a US$3.2 billion deal. If the merger goes ahead, the merger will create one of the world’s largest lithium producers. The merger will allow the group to accelerate the development of both group’s combined growth projects. It is expected that the merger will allow an expansion of the production of lithium carbonate from 40,000 to 100,000 tonnes in the upcoming years. The merger group will have its headquarters in Argentina where Orocobre Limited operates Olaroz lithium facility.
