Andrew Forrest, Australian mining billionaire, stated on 26 February 2022 that he was investing USD $2.2 billion in renewable energy in central Queensland, Australia. His company Squadron Energy acquired the two-stage Clarke Creek project, a wind, solar and battery farm development with contracts issued and construction to start immediately.
Phase one of the Clarke Wind project is estimated to be fully operational by 2024, with stage two expected to be completed by 2026. The project is estimated to produce enough to supply 40% of Queensland households with electricity through wind, solar and battery renewable methods.
Forrest has stated that he wishes to turn Fortescue Metal Group Limited (FMG.AX) into the world’s largest green energy group.
