Global mining giant Anglo American announced a 42% increase in its copper production in the first half, reaching a total of 387,200 metric tons. This surge is primarily attributed to the accelerated operations of its Quellaveco mine in Peru, which came in response to the growing demand for copper in green energy applications such as solar panels and electric vehicles. While the firm also saw a 12% growth in iron ore production, it cautioned of a potential drop in profits from Amplats, its platinum metals group unit.
