Argentina recorded a 7.8% year-on-year increase in its mining and energy production in May despite a 0.6% drop from the previous month, according to the government’s INDEC statistics agency. The figures cover crude oil and natural gas output, services and metal extraction. The index, which reflects the government’s effort to bolster the energy and mining industries, marked a 10.7% surge in production during the first five months of the year, compared to the same period in 2022. While crude oil production witnessed a 9% rise in May, natural gas output fell by 0.8%. The oil and gas services sector saw a leap of 24.4%, contrasting with a 17.3% reduction in metallic mineral output over the same period.
