The European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández reportedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Buenos Aires last week. This strategic alliance marks a commitment between the EU and Argentina to develop sustainable raw materials supply chains necessary for the clean energy and digital transition, while promoting sustainable development of the industry and fostering mutual economic growth. The collaboration will include cooperation on research and innovation along the raw materials value chain, with an emphasis on environmental, social, and governance criteria. As the world’s major lithium supplier, the partnership will notably reinforce the EU’s resilience in critical raw materials supply chains.
