According to a report by PwC titled “Mine 2023: The era of reinvention”, a tech skills shortage has prompted concerns among two-thirds of mining CEOs, who believe this could adversely affect the industry’s profitability over the next decade. The study also reveals that 41% of surveyed CEOs are sceptical about their companies’ economic sustainability if current business models persist. Notably, the report identifies tech talent recruitment as the major barrier for mining companies to adopt new technology. To counter these challenges, PwC suggests that mining companies facilitate a more inclusive work environment to attract talent.
