AngloGold Ashanti announced on 26 June its partnership with Pacific Energy in launching one of Australia’s largest renewable energy projects in natural resource sector. The venture, positioned 330 km east-northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, involves the construction and operation of a 62 MW wind and solar facility for supplying power to its Tropicana gold mine. This project aims to reduce the mine’s diesel and gas consumption for power generation by 96% and 50% respectively. The initiative aligns with AngloGold’s commitment to decrease its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 30% by 2030.
