Carbon neutral coal

The Allam-Fetvedt Cycle technology, which is a new type of power cycle to reduce emissions, may be capable of providing a net-zero opportunity for coal by producing saleable hydrogen as a by-product of coal, while at the same time capturing the CO2 emissions. The Allam-Fetvedt Cycle technology uses CO2 to drive turbines as opposed to steam, while simultaneously eliminating air pollution and capturing the CO2. Having said that, the technology does rely on the development of carbon capture use and storage which is still being debated as an effective method of reducing carbon emissions.
