Indonesia Grants Amman Mineral Temporary Copper Export Permit

Indonesian mining firm PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara, a subsidiary of PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk, has reportedly secured government permission to export 900,000 wet metric tonnes of copper concentrate until May 2024. This move comes despite Indonesia’s recent ban on raw mineral exports such as copper and bauxite to boost the domestic metals processing industry. However, Amman and a few other firms have been granted temporary exemptions to continue construction on their smelters, which were delayed due to the pandemic. Amman’s copper smelter, currently 60% completed in West Nusa Tenggara, is expected to be built by the end of May 2024.
