YGH Australia (Yansteel), a subsidiary of Tangsteel (one of the largest steel manufacturing state-owned enterprises in China) and ASX-listed Sheffield Resources have commenced their joint venture (known as “Kimberley Mineral Sands” (KMS)), under which Yansteel has acquired a 50 percent stake in the KMS project in Western Australia. The KMS project will involve a 10.4 million tonnes a year mine and process plan, with the project reportedly holding one of the largest and highest grade mineral sands discoveries of the century.
