The UK government is set to invest GBP1.7 billion over the next three years in the Sizewell C nuclear power plant, based in Suffolk. This investment is part of the UK government’s aim to restart its efforts to replace the country’s aging nuclear reactors. The UK government has stated that nuclear energy will be a key component in reaching their net zero goals. The government hopes that this latest investment will encourage outside investors from the UK and US to provide additional funding while the government looks to sideline China’s CGN from the Sidewell C project.
