Namibia is well suited to exploit wind and solar energy thanks to its annual 3,500 sun hours and its vast lands with perfect wind speed that is capable of being harnessed for profitable wind energy. Thanks to these natural attribute, Namibia is being tipped to become a key player in green hydrogen production. It has been reported that the cost of green energy from Namibia will be a record low despite having the additional environmental costs in respect environmentally sound seawater desalination on-site and meeting Namibia’s electricity supply. With costs at a record low, Namibia is well positioned to become a key player in the green energy market. Germany has already signed an understanding with Namibia which will not only assist Germany to reach its climate goals but will also assist Namibia in paving the way forward for sustainable development.
